Summary of San Francisco Green Building ordinance, Ordinance 080063, passed by the Board of Supervisors in late July of 2008 and anticipated to go into effect in January of 2009. Full text of 7/17/2008 version submitted to the Board of Supervisors. We're waiting for a copy of the finalized version of the new ordinance. Draft Ordinance highlights for small to medium sized residential structures: Small residential structures: Effective date through 12/31/2008, permit applicants must submit GreenPoint checklist, but no particular number of points will be required; starting 1/1/2009, applicants must submit documentation demonstrating that at least 25 GreenPoints will be achieved; 2010-11, homes must be GreenPoint Rated and submit documentation demonstrating that a minimum of 75 GreenPoints will be achieved. Mid-sized multifamily buildings: Effective date through 12/31/2008, permit applicants must submit GreenPoint checklist, but no particular number of points will be required; starting 1/1/2009, applicants must submit documentation demonstrating that at least 25 GreenPoints will be achieved; 2010, buildings must be GreenPoint Rated and submit documentation demonstrating that a minimum of 50 GreenPoints will be achieved; 2011, buildings must be GreenPoint Rated and submit documentation demonstrating that a minimum of 75 GreenPoints will be achieved; Additional points granted for retention of certain historical architectural features.
